I must confess I'm not the best cook or much of a cook at all. My mom didn't cook much growing up, almost always we ate at my aunt's and uncles' places, and there I would devour all the tasty dishes that my family would make. As an adult cooking food at home doesn't interest me as much, but most recently (as of a couple of weeks ago) I've been immersed in food blogs, reading, cooking (which is a surprise for me too), and saving recipes to cook later.
Sifting through my now favorite food blogs, I found a couple of Venezuelan recipes. Jolted with excitement I immediately scrolled down to see the pictures, and actually found that the Cachapas (sweet corn cakes) don't look anything like the ones I know and love. Which almost makes me want to make my own Venezuelan food blog, but that's an idea simmering in the back of my head.
There is one food blog I've used to prepare Pabellon Criollo, which is the traditional dish in Venezuela which has sweet plantains (tajadas), white rice (arroz), black beans (caraotas), and pulled beef (carne mechada). This blog is the closest guide to making Venezuelan food I've had. The food blog is Venezuelan Cooking and I would definitely recommend looking around for recipes.
Here are some of the Venezuelan recipes I found in popular food blogs, these food bloggers took a stab at making Venezuelan food from scratch and quite frankly the cachapas and arepas look delicious.
